The Climate Library

A shallow on ramp to working on climate, by Dom Potter (@dompotter)

Welcome to Low Carbon Business School's Climate Library
This is part of a number of resources I've created that builds on my experience working within the minutiae of complex value chains of large companies on how to shift their business models low carbon.

Most recently this was as IKEA's first Entrepreneur in Residence and I've just come back to the UK with my family after four wonderful years in the forest of Sweden where I went deep on all things climate and decarbonisation.

I've also been an investor and mentor to a few dozen climate tech companies and am now building my own - MadeFrom - which is the defining work of my lifetime.

The opportunities to make a big impact on climate are abundant in the opaque but crucially important value chains that render ideas into the everyday products we wall use. I want to help anyone on a mission like mine to re-wire mass production to be the engine that renews our world.

I've put these resources together for anyone who wants to understand how to make a difference on climate - whether you want to start something new or do change the company you work for from within.

Hope it is useful in your journey and please reach out if I can help you on your path to making a difference. We need you.

Dom

Introduction to the Library

Addressing Climate Change is the greatest challenge facing our world. It's so important, so vast and so complex that it is hard to know where to start. And that is precisely why the Climate Library exists.

It's an open resource to power open learning about many aspects of climate. It's not perfect, it's not exhaustive, it's not definitive.

But hopefully it is a good starting point. Good luck on your journey.

"The fact is that no species has ever had such wholesale control over everything on earth, living or dead, as we now have. That lays upon us, whether we like it or not, an awesome responsibility. In our hands now lies not only our future, but that of all other living creates with whom we share the earth."

Sir David Attenborough, Life on Earth

What should be added to the library? What else would you like to see? How can v2 be made better? learn@lcbs.io

With thanks to Maisie Law and Catherine Gray who helped turn an idea and a shed-full of accumulated resources into something much more coherent for the Climate Library v1.
